Vehicle information in augmented reality

What it does

Blikvanger shows public vehicle information next to the parked Dutch car it belongs to. On a LiDAR-equipped iPhone, it recognizes a readable yellow licence plate on-device, measures the vehicle's position with ARKit and keeps the information card attached to that vehicle.

Requirements

Blikvanger requires iOS 18 or later and a LiDAR-equipped iPhone Pro. It is designed for stationary, parked vehicles. Camera, depth and AR data are processed temporarily on the device.

Support

For questions, accessibility feedback or a problem with the app, contact [email protected]. Please include the iPhone model, iOS version and a short description of what happened. Do not send licence plates, owner information or camera images unless they are necessary for the support request.

Privacy

Blikvanger has no accounts, advertising, analytics or cross-app tracking. After a plate is confirmed, only the six-character plate text is sent over HTTPS to the public RDW Open Data service. Owner data is never requested or displayed.
